SYMBOL DICTIONARY · A GATE

A Gate in your coffee grounds

A threshold opening — permission, a new chapter, an invitation to pass through.

Where the key unlocks, the gate opens: a threshold you have stood before is swinging wide. It marks passage granted — into a role, a relationship, a place — and the cup shows a gate when the permission has already been given and only the step remains.

An open gate near the rim is this week's threshold; walk through it. A gate at the bottom of the cup is a larger passage, the kind that divides a life into before and after — and it opens toward the light.
