Is this real?
Groundlore is made for delight, not prophecy — a warm little ritual and a piece of entertainment, not a prediction or advice. The reading itself is genuine: a real AI writes it fresh for your cup. We just never pretend to foretell your future.
How does the AI read my cup?
You photograph the grounds after you swirl and turn the cup. The reader studies them by position — the rim for what's near, the sides for what's unfolding, and the bottom for what runs deeper — names the symbols it finds, and writes a reading from where they sit.
Do I need to sign in to try it?
No. Your very first reading needs no account and no card — just take or upload a photo and read. Sign in afterwards only if you'd like to save it and claim your next two free readings. You can sign in with a one-time link we email you (no password) or with Google.
What if I get a bad or scary reading?
Groundlore is written to be gentle: it reads the kind omens, because it is made for delight, not fortune-telling — there is no doom waiting in the cup here. It is still written fresh by an AI, so we cannot promise every line lands the way you hoped. If one does not, tap "Report this reading" under it: a person reads every report, and a reading that broke the rules is removed. You can also delete any reading yourself. And you can always pour another cup.
How do I delete my account or a reading?
Yourself, at once. Sign in, open your account and choose "Delete my account and readings", or open any one reading and choose "Delete this reading". Its share link stops working straight away. groundlore.com/delete-account explains exactly what is deleted and what is kept.
What happens to my photo?
It's used only to write your reading, then discarded — never sold, never used to train models. The privacy page has the full detail.
Do I have to use a photo?
A photo makes the reading specific to your actual grounds, which is the fun of it — but you can also receive a reading without one if you'd rather.
How much does it cost?
What you can buy today: the $9 guide and the $29 printed edition. Readings themselves stay free — your first cup with no sign-in, two more when you sign in. Credit packs are not on sale anywhere yet. The Daily Ritual subscription is planned for the Groundlore Android app, where Google Play bills it. All prices are in USD.
How much does it cost in the app?
Your first cup is free with no sign-in, and signing in adds two more free readings. After that, the Daily Ritual gives you one reading every day by the week, month or year. It is sold through Google Play at the price Google Play shows you in your own currency, it renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel any time in Google Play. While it is not on sale in the app, nothing in the app can charge you.
Can I get a refund if I buy something?
Yes. The $9 guide and the $29 printed edition are the only two things on sale, and both are covered: ask within 14 days of buying and you get a full refund, no reasons needed. The quickest way is the form at groundlore.com/refunds, which checks your purchase straight away. Neither one is a subscription and neither renews, so there is nothing to cancel. Who am I actually buying from?
Both paid products are sold through Gumroad, which acts as merchant of record — so Gumroad is the seller shown on your receipt, it takes the payment, and it handles any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live. Your card details go to Gumroad and never to us. Groundlore is a trading name operated by Sam Arora, and Groundlore was previously called ReadMyCup, so you may still see that older name on files you download.
How do refunds and cancelling work in the app?
Anything bought in the app is billed by Google Play. Cancel the Daily Ritual any time in Google Play (your account page links straight to it); you keep it until the end of the period you paid for. For a refund, ask Google Play, or write to us on the help page and we can refund a Google Play purchase from our side.
