A chain is strength made of connections: one good thing linked to the next, each holding because the others do. It favours partnerships, agreements, and any plan that depends on people keeping faith with people — and, the cup suggests, they will.
A single strong link near the rim marks a bond being forged this week. Where older readers feared a chain as bondage, the cup reads it as belonging: you are held, and being held is a kind of safety.
