Terms of Service
Last updated 30 July 2026
Welcome to Groundlore. By using the app or website, you agree to these terms. Please read them — they are short and written to be readable.
For delight, not prophecy
Groundlore is an entertainment experience inspired by the tradition of tasseography (coffee-cup reading). Readings are creative, generated for enjoyment, and are not predictions of the future and not professional advice of any kind. Do not rely on a reading for medical, legal, financial, psychological, or other important decisions. If you need professional advice, please consult a qualified professional.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old to use Groundlore. By using it, you confirm that you are.
Your account
You sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping access to your Google account secure. You agree to use the service lawfully and not to abuse, overload, reverse-engineer, or attempt to disrupt it, and to only upload images you have the right to use.
Your content
You keep ownership of the photos you upload and the readings you receive. You grant us permission to process your photo solely to generate your reading (see our Privacy Policy). We process photos transiently and do not store them.
Availability and changes
The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We may change, pause, or discontinue features at any time. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
What you can buy today: the guide and the printed edition
Two things are on sale on this site: The Complete Tasseography Guide ($9) and the printed edition of your own reading ($29). Both are one-time purchases of digital content — there is no subscription, no auto-renewal and no recurring charge of any kind attached to either. Readings on the site stay free: your first cup needs no sign-in, and signing in adds two more.
Who you are buying from. Both are sold through Gumroad. Gumroad, Inc. acts as merchant of record: it is the seller shown on your receipt, it takes the payment, and it collects and remits any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies where you live. Your card details go to Gumroad and never to us — Groundlore does not see or store them. Groundlore is responsible for the content of what you bought, and is who you should email if anything is wrong with it.
Immediate delivery, and your right to cancel. Both are delivered to you immediately once payment is confirmed. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union you normally have a statutory 14-day right to cancel a purchase of digital content bought online. By completing checkout and then downloading the file or opening your printed edition, you expressly consent to that immediate delivery and you acknowledge that you thereby lose that 14-day right to cancel. We ask for this because the content cannot be handed back once it is on your device.
Our own refund promise, wherever you live. We would rather refund you than keep $9 you are unhappy about, so we give you back more than the paragraph above takes away. If either purchase is not what this site described, does not arrive, or will not open, email hello@groundlore.com within 14 days of buying and we will refund you in full. This applies no matter what country you are in and no matter whether you have already downloaded it. Refunds are issued back through Gumroad to the payment method you used, normally within a few business days of us agreeing it.
What the printed edition is, exactly. It lays out a reading you have already been given as a single page built for printing. It does not contain a new reading and it does not reveal anything your reading did not already say. It needs a reading that already has its own share link. You can see the whole thing before you pay: look at an example printed edition.
Licence. Both are for your own personal use. You may print them and keep them for as long as you like. Please do not resell them or republish them as your own.
Readings, credits & payments (not on sale yet)
Nothing in this section or the next one can be bought anywhere today. Credit packs and subscriptions are planned to open alongside the Groundlore Android app, and the terms below are how they will work when they do. You cannot be charged for them in the meantime, and no part of this section describes the $9 guide or the $29 printed edition — those are covered above.
Anyone can take one free reading without signing in, and every new account includes 2 more free readings on top of it. When credit packs and subscriptions open, you will be able to keep reading in one of two ways: buy a credit pack, or take out a subscription (available weekly, monthly, or yearly). Prices are shown in US dollars and are presented to you before you pay. Those purchases are expected to be processed by PayPal; we will never see or store your card details. If the rail changes before they open, this page will say so before anything can be bought.
Credit packs will be a one-time purchase of a set number of readings (for example, one reading for $2.99, five for $9.99, or thirteen for $19.99). A credit pack does not auto-renew — you would only ever be charged for a pack you actively choose to buy. Credits are added to your account instantly after payment is confirmed. Credits do not expire and remain on your account until you use them, for as long as the service is available to you. One credit is spent per reading. A reading that visibly fails to generate does not consume a credit. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred between accounts, and cannot be exchanged for money except as described in the Refund Policy below.
Subscription (not on sale yet)
A subscription is planned in three billing periods, all offering the same thing: one included reading per calendar day — the daily ritual. The prices are $4.99 per week, $12.99 per month, or $119.99 per year. Want more than one cup in a day? Credit packs will work alongside a subscription, and credits never expire. To protect the service for everyone, we use automated anti-bot and anti-abuse measures (for example, rate limits on automated or scripted traffic); these never affect a person using the service normally.
Auto-renewal: once subscriptions open, a subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period — every week, month, or year, matching the plan you chose — at the then-current price for that period, charged through PayPal, until you cancel. By subscribing you would authorise that recurring charge. Neither thing you can buy today renews.
Cancellation: you will be able to cancel at any time — from within your PayPal account if that is the rail in place when subscriptions open, or by contacting us at hello@groundlore.com. When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for and then does not renew; we do not pro-rate or refund the remainder of a paid week, month, or year except as required by law or as described in the Refund Policy below. There is nothing to cancel for the $9 guide or the $29 printed edition, because neither one recurs.
Refund policy
One-time purchases through Gumroad — the $9 guide and the $29 printed edition. These are what you can actually buy today. If either is not what you expected, email hello@groundlore.com within 14 days of buying and you will be refunded in full. They are small one-time purchases and there is nothing to argue about. Because Gumroad, Inc. is the merchant of record, the refund is processed by Gumroad back to your original payment method; you can also raise it directly with Gumroad using the receipt it emailed you.
Credit packs and subscriptions (not on sale yet). Credit packs are digital goods delivered instantly, so purchases will be generally non-refundable once the credits have been added to your account. By buying a pack you agree to immediate delivery and acknowledge this. Subscription renewals will likewise be generally non-refundable once the new billing period (week, month, or year) has begun, but you can cancel at any time to stop future renewals.
We stand behind the experience. If you were charged in error, charged more than once for the same purchase or renewal, or what you paid for was not delivered, contact us at hello@groundlore.com within 14 days and we will investigate and make it right, which may include re-sending the file, restoring access or missing credits, or issuing a refund. Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable refund or consumer rights you have under the law where you live.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Groundlore is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, or for any decisions you make based on a reading. Your sole remedy if you are dissatisfied is to stop using the service.
Termination
You may stop using Groundlore at any time and request deletion of your data. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or violate these terms.
Who you are dealing with
Groundlore is a trading name operated by Sam Arora (Arora Enterprises, a sole proprietorship). Groundlore was previously called ReadMyCup, so you may still see that name on older files and downloads — it is the same service and the same person behind it. The seller shown on your payment receipt will be Gumroad, Inc., which handles the payment as merchant of record.
Complaints and grievances. Send anything you are unhappy about to hello@groundlore.com, marked “Grievance”. It reaches Sam Arora directly. We aim to acknowledge every complaint within 48 hours and to resolve it within one month of receiving it.
